34th Annual Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) Conference

The representative of the Internet of Containers project working group, Mr. Tsolakis attended the internationally renowned Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) Conference with this year’s theme “A Better, Smarter and Disruptive World with POM”. The conference took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis (300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis MN 55403, USA), on April 25-29.

The scientific paper with ID 124-1077 and title “Platform Viability across Fragmented Physical and Regulatory Landscapes – Evidence from Multimodal Logistics” which was written in collaboration with a member of the external Advisory Board of the IoC project, Professor Mr. Nitin Joglekar (Associate Professor, Questrom School of Business, United States) and Mr. Geoffrey Parker (Professor, Dartmouth College, United States) was invited for a presentation by Professor of International Hellenic University Mr. Tsolakis, in a session entitled: “Technical Trends and Business Dynamics”, which took place on Saturday, April 27, 14:15 – 15:45.

The study uses the extended case method, analyzing data from the port of Thessaloniki generated within the framework of the project, as well as global evidence, to understand regulatory dominance and market dominance in the multimodal supply chain. In this study, the sustainability of the platform is proposed at different levels, while the implications for market structure assessments and regulations based on environmental and social concerns are discussed.

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) is an international professional organization representing the interests of production and operations management (POM) professionals from around the world. The annual conference provides an opportunity for professors, doctoral students, and professionals to share knowledge and ideas through research presentations, seminars, workshops, and panel discussions.
